Yearly Reflection: 2018

Looking back, 2018 was a life changing kind of year. And although it’s so easy to be negative about it not ending the way I had hoped, I figured it’s best to celebrate the great moments that have occurred in the last 365 days. So, here’s to the memories that have carried me through this year of life – the people who picked me up when things got tough – and best of all, the milestones I never thought I’d reach.

In many ways, 2018 will probably always be remembered as the year I graduated with first class honours and passed my driving test. But thinking about the year in its entirety, it truly was so much more. It was a time for stepping out of my comfort zone and meeting new people. A point in my life when venturing to Italy or attending a publishing conference – alone – in Edinburgh, seemed possible. The year I published a student led anthology – shelved a five year work-in-progress – and put faith in a new story.

After everything, it would be wrong to say that 2018 was just another moment in time.  So, here’s to 2019. A year that I hope to be great, but don’t expect to be perfect. After all, nothing real ever is.

Until next time,

Melis x
